Charleston is one of those cities that feels made for celebrations. Between the pastel houses, rooftop cocktails, harbor views, beach access, and incredible food scene, it has everything you need for a bachelorette weekend that feels equal parts elevated and fun. If you’re planning a Charleston bachelorette party in 2026, this is the itinerary I’d recommend again and again.
1. My Charleston Story – Why I Know This City Better Than Any Travel Blogger

I’ll be honest with you – I’m a little biased when it comes to Charleston. But after ten years of living here, I think I’ve earned the right to be.
I moved here from Bogotá, Colombia in my early twenties and fell completely in love with this city – the Spanish moss hanging from the live oaks, the rainbow-colored houses on East Bay Street, the way the whole place smells like salt air and history. Charleston has a way of wrapping itself around you. By the time I met my husband Sam in 2020, I wasn’t going anywhere.
And in 2021, we got married. On a boat. Our boat – the Friki Tiki.
It was the most fun wedding I’ve ever been to, and I’ve been to a lot of weddings. Sam and I co-own Tiki Tours of Charleston, so the Friki Tiki felt like the only venue that made sense. If you’re ever looking for a small, affordable, wildly fun wedding experience that doesn’t feel like every other wedding you’ve ever attended – call us. But that’s a story for another blog.
This blog is about bachelorette parties. Specifically, the one I wish I’d had in Charleston – and the one I help brides plan every single week through our party boat business.
I’ve watched hundreds of bachelorette groups come through Charleston. I know what works, what’s overrated, and where to go when you want something that actually feels special. So consider this your insider guide – not from a travel blogger who visited once, but from someone who lives here, works the harbor, and genuinely loves this city.
2. Getting to Charleston and Getting Around
Flying in? Charleston International Airport (CHS) is small, easy, and well-connected – direct flights from most major East Coast cities and plenty of options from the South and Midwest. If you’re driving, Charleston sits right off I-26 and is an easy road trip from Atlanta (4 hours), Charlotte (2.5 hours), or Savannah (under 2 hours).
One thing nobody tells you: if your flights get in at different times and the rental isn’t ready yet, drop your bags at Bag Valet Charleston. They’ll store your luggage securely while the whole group gets settled, so you’re not dragging suitcases around downtown waiting for check-in. Complete game changer for groups arriving at different times.
The honest answer on getting around is that if you’re staying downtown, you barely need transportation at all. The historic district is one of the most walkable areas in the South – King Street, the restaurants, the bars, Rainbow Row, and the waterfront are all within easy walking distance. Comfortable shoes matter more than a car.
That said, here’s what I’d actually recommend depending on your vibe:
Uber and Lyft are reliable downtown and the rides are short and cheap. This is your default for anything outside easy walking distance and for getting home safely after a big night out.
Charleston Black Cab Company is the move if you want to do it in style. They run party buses and luxury vehicles perfect for bachelorette groups – think pulling up to dinner or the boat in a party bus with the whole crew ready to go. It sets the tone for the whole day. Book in advance, especially on weekends.

Rickshaws are one of Charleston’s most underrated transportation options on a nice day. Pedal-powered, fun, and perfect for cruising the historic district streets in style. You’ll see them all over downtown – flag one down or look up Charleston Rickshaw Company for bookings. On a beautiful spring or fall afternoon, a rickshaw ride between spots feels like the most Charleston thing you can possibly do.
For Folly Beach and day trips outside downtown, you’ll want a car or rideshare. And fair warning – downtown Charleston parking is a nightmare. If your rental has parking, treasure it. If it doesn’t, budget for a parking garage and accept that you’re not moving that car until you leave.
3. Where to Stay for Your Charleston Bachelorette Party
You have two main choices: stay downtown or stay at the beach. Both are great. They create completely different vibes.
Stay downtown if your group is here to eat, drink, bar hop, and soak up the city. Downtown puts you within walking distance of King Street, the best restaurants, the rooftop bars, and the nightlife. You’ll spend less time in Ubers and more time actually out.
Stay at the beach if your group wants to wake up to ocean views, spend lazy mornings on the sand, and have that genuine beach vacation feeling. Folly Beach and Isle of Palms are both stunning in completely different ways. Folly is laid-back, surfy, and has a real personality – bars and restaurants right on the strip, local energy, the kind of place where you lose track of time. Isle of Palms is more polished, with beautiful wide beaches and gorgeous rental homes.

Personally? If I’m being totally honest – I’d pick the beach. Because it’s the beach. You can always Uber downtown for dinner and a night out. You can’t Uber to an ocean view from a downtown Airbnb. Wake up to the sound of waves, have your morning coffee on a deck overlooking the water, and then head into the city when you’re ready. That’s hard to beat.
That said – Sam would tell you downtown is the smarter bachelorette choice if partying is the priority. He’s probably right. I just love the beach.
For vacation rentals, look for homes in Cannonborough-Elliotborough, the French Quarter, and Harleston Village for downtown stays – beautiful historic homes with high ceilings and real Charleston charm. For beach stays, Isle of Palms has gorgeous larger homes perfect for groups, many with private pools and wide porches. Folly Beach has more variety at generally lower price points.
4. Set the Scene – Decorations with Kay and Co
Once you’ve got the rental sorted, this is where the magic happens. One of the best things about staying in a vacation rental versus a hotel is that you can transform the space.
Kay and Co in Charleston is who you call for this. They do stunning balloon arrangements and bachelorette party decor that genuinely elevates a space – custom balloon garlands, personalized setups, bride-specific decorations that look like they were styled by someone who actually knows what they’re doing. Way beyond the Amazon balloon kit.

Coordinate with Kay and Co ahead of your trip and arrange for them to set up before the group arrives. That first impression – the bride walks through the door and the whole space is done up – sets the energy for the entire weekend.
5. Night One – Private Chef at the Rental
Here’s a night-one option that sounds extravagant but is genuinely one of the best decisions you can make: hire a private chef to come to the rental.
Think about it – everyone just traveled, some people are meeting each other for the first time, you haven’t fully settled into the trip yet. Going out to a busy restaurant on night one before the group has found its rhythm can feel rushed. A private chef lets everyone stay in the Airbnb, pour a drink, get comfortable, and actually catch up while someone else handles dinner.
Charleston has several incredible private chef options who specialize in exactly this. A charcuterie spread while they cook, a full dinner, dessert – it’s genuinely one of the most memorable nights of a bachelorette weekend because it’s so intimate. Search Charleston private chef bachelorette on Airbnb Experiences for local options. Pair it with wine, good music, and the house decorated by Kay and Co, and you’ve got a perfect first night.
6. Day 2 – The Main Event
Morning: Custom Hats at Southern Rutz
Start the morning at Southern Rutz on James Island for custom hats. They make hand-crafted custom rope hats that are genuinely beautiful and make for the perfect bachelorette party favor. Everyone picks their own colors, their own patches, their own style. You leave with something you’ll actually wear again.

I love this stop because it’s not the typical bachelorette activity. It’s creative, it’s Charleston, and it gives the group something fun to bond over before the main event. Book in advance because they fill up fast on weekends.
Afternoon: The Friki Tiki Party Boat
OK, I’m obviously biased here – but I’d say the same thing even if I didn’t own the boat.
A party boat cruise on Charleston Harbor is the single best bachelorette activity in this city. I’ve seen groups do spa days, bar crawls, beach trips, ghost tours – all of it. Nothing creates memories like being on the water together, sun on your faces, drinks in hand, the skyline behind you, music going.

The Friki Tiki holds up to 32 people and operates on Charleston Harbor and the Ashley River. For bachelorette groups we typically recommend a private charter so the whole boat is yours – your playlist, your vibe, your crew. Private charters start at $700/hour with a 2-hour minimum, which sounds like a lot until you split it across 15-20 people and realize it’s less than a dinner out.
The boat departs from Brittlebank Park at 185 Lockwood Drive. You bring your own drinks (beer, wine, seltzers – no hard liquor on board, but a cooler full of rosé and White Claw is perfect). We provide ice, water, cups, and a sound system you can connect your Spotify to.
Add-ons worth considering:
- Bartender – Starting at $200 for 2 hours. So the maid of honor can actually enjoy the cruise.
- Live Music – Starting at $300 for 2 hours. From one of our amazing local musicians.
- DJ – Starting at $300 for 2 hours. If your group wants to dance the whole time.
I’ve watched bachelorette parties out here cry happy tears, dance their hearts out, and take the most beautiful photos with the Charleston skyline as a backdrop. There is nothing like golden hour on the Ashley River.

Other Afternoon Activity Options
Candle making at Candlefish on King Street is wildly popular for bachelorette groups. You make your own custom scented candle in a beautiful shop. Relaxing, creative, and everyone goes home with something they made.
A ghost tour with Bulldog Tours is perfect for the group that wants something different. Charleston has more documented hauntings than almost any city in America – the tours are legitimately creepy and entertaining.
Sip N’ Shop Tours combines wine with boutique shopping in a guided walking tour. Great for a more low-key afternoon before a big night out.
Evening: Dinner and Going Out
For dinner after the boat, Halls Chophouse on King Street is hard to beat for a special group dinner – upscale steakhouse energy, great service, perfect for a celebration. Make reservations at least 2 weeks out.
For the night out, start at The Rooftop at Vendue for drinks with a harbor view, then move to Republic Garden and Lounge for the late night – punch bowls, a DJ, outdoor garden, and the kind of energy that keeps a bachelorette party going. Uptown Social on upper King is also a great option with a rooftop deck and a lively crowd.
7. Day 3 – Brunch and Folly Beach
Brunch at Millers All Day
Before you hit the road or the beach, brunch at Millers All Day on King Street is non-negotiable. It’s a Charleston institution – beautiful space, incredible biscuits, bottomless mimosas, and a menu that makes leaving feel impossible. Get the shrimp and grits. You’re in South Carolina. Just do it.
Afternoon at Folly Beach
Pack the car and head to Folly Beach – about 20 minutes from downtown. Folly is the best beach near Charleston for a bachelorette group because it has a real personality. It’s a laid-back surf town with bars and restaurants right on the strip, so you can go from beach to cold beer to back to the beach without ever really stopping.

Chico Feo is the quintessential Folly Beach bar – outdoor picnic tables, tropical drinks, incredible tacos, and live music most nights. If you’re at Folly and you don’t end up at Chico Feo, you did Folly wrong.
Bring chairs, sunscreen, and whatever’s left in the cooler from the boat. Spend the afternoon here and let the weekend wind down naturally.
Other Day 3 Options
Magnolia Plantation and Gardens if your group prefers something scenic and serene – the grounds are genuinely breathtaking and it’s a different side of Charleston than the bar scene.
Rainbow Row and the Battery for a classic Charleston walking tour and photos. East Bay Street’s iconic colorful houses, White Point Gardens, and the waterfront. Perfect for photos and a walk before heading home.
Charleston City Market for last-minute souvenirs and locally made goods. The sweetgrass baskets woven by Gullah artisans are a Charleston specialty and worth picking up.

9. What to Pack for a Charleston Bachelorette Weekend
Charleston summers are hot and humid. Like, genuinely brutal from June through September. Here’s what I always tell groups:
- Linen everything. Light, breathable fabrics are not optional – they’re survival gear.
- Comfortable walking shoes. The cobblestone streets are gorgeous and absolutely brutal on heels after about 20 minutes.
- Sunscreen. Especially for the boat. The water reflects UV and people get burnt in about 45 minutes if they’re not careful.
- A reusable water bottle. Charleston heat will dehydrate you fast, especially if you’re drinking.
- A wrap or light jacket for evenings – restaurants blast the AC in summer.
- White outfits for the bride. It’s the law.
10. Best Time of Year for a Charleston Bachelorette Party
My honest answer: March through May and September through November are the sweet spots. Spring in Charleston is magical – mild temperatures, blooming azaleas everywhere, long evenings, and the harbor is stunning. Fall is equally beautiful with slightly cooler temps and fewer crowds.
Summer (June-August) is doable but hot. The upside is that boat trips are incredible in summer because the water is warm enough to jump in and beach days are perfect. Just pace yourselves during the day.
Winter is actually underrated. December through February the city is quieter, prices are lower, and Charleston still has beautiful weather compared to most of the country.
11. Things to Know Before You Go
- The streets are small and parking is a nightmare downtown. If you’re staying downtown, just commit to not driving. Uber everywhere or walk.
- King Street is the spine of everything. Upper King has the bars and restaurants. Lower King has the shopping. Once you know that, navigating downtown is easy.
- Make reservations. At the good restaurants, 2 to 3 weeks in advance minimum for weekends. Charleston has exploded in popularity and walk-in waits at Husk or 167 Raw can be 90 minutes on a Saturday night.
- Book the boat early. Weekends in spring and fall fill out 4 to 6 weeks in advance. Book your date here as soon as it’s set.
- The weather can change fast. Pack a compact umbrella. Charleston gets afternoon thunderstorms in summer that blow through in 20 minutes but can be intense while they’re happening.
12. Frequently Asked Questions – Charleston Bachelorette Party
How much does a Charleston bachelorette party cost?
Budget roughly $300 to $600 per person for a weekend depending on where you stay and what you do. Vacation rentals split well across larger groups. The boat charter typically runs $50 to $80 per person split across a group of 15 to 20. Meals on King Street run $40 to $80 per person with drinks.
How many days do you need for a Charleston bachelorette?
Three days is the sweet spot – arrive Friday evening, full day Saturday, Folly Beach Sunday and head home. If you can swing four days you’ll have time to breathe between activities and see more of the city.
Is Charleston good for bachelorette parties?
It’s one of the best cities in the country for a bachelorette. Walkable downtown, incredible food scene, beautiful scenery, the harbor, the beaches – it genuinely has everything. The vibe is festive without being Vegas-overwhelming.
What is the best activity for a bachelorette party in Charleston?
In my completely objective, totally unbiased opinion – a private party boat cruise on Charleston Harbor. The combination of the water, the skyline, the sunset, and your whole group together in one place is something you cannot replicate anywhere else in the city.
Do I need a car in Charleston for a bachelorette weekend?
If you’re staying downtown, no. Uber and Lyft are reliable and the downtown area is very walkable. You’ll need a car or rideshare for Folly Beach and a few spots outside downtown.
What should the bride wear on a Charleston bachelorette party?
White, always. For the boat specifically – white linen or a cute white sundress. Bring layers for the evening and closed-toe shoes for cobblestone streets at night.
When should I book the party boat?
As early as possible. Spring and fall weekends book out 4 to 6 weeks in advance. Book directly at tikitoursofcharleston.com.
What beaches are near Charleston?
Folly Beach (20 min), Sullivan’s Island (25 min), Isle of Palms (30 min), and Kiawah Island (45 min). For a bachelorette group, Folly is the most fun for its bar scene. Sullivan’s is quieter and more residential but beautiful.
Can you do a boat party and a beach day on the same trip?
Yes – that’s actually the ideal itinerary. Boat cruise Saturday afternoon or evening, beach day Sunday. Two completely different experiences that both show off what makes Charleston special.
Is Charleston safe for a bachelorette party?
Very safe, especially in the downtown area. Use normal city common sense – don’t leave drinks unattended, use rideshares at night, stay in groups. The tourist areas are well-lit and well-trafficked.
